When looking at the D.C. United logos, you might notice some common design elements that have become integral to the team's brand. First, the bald eagle, the D.C United mascot, has remained in all designs. The team is based in the Nation's capital, and the eagle has become synonymous with the D.C. United, representing speed and power. Second, every design uses black, white, and red colors. Black and white are the team's primary colors, and red serves as the accent. These colors have remained because they are bold and create high contrast with their uniforms. Last, pairs of three are common design motifs in all logos. In the first logo, one can see three soccer balls overlaying stars. In the other logos, we see the wings divided into three sections. The most recent logo has three stars inside the bird's torso. The repetition of threes represents the three jurisdictions of the Washington Metropolitan Area (Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia). When creating my logo, I tried to stay consistent with these previous design trends.
