Interactive Storytelling Project
PROJECT BRIEF
For this project, I created a story about J. Cole, one of my favorite hip-hop artists. I aimed to provide visually exciting information about Cole for those familiar and unfamiliar with Cole's work. The story follows a cohesive narrative, starting with Cole's childhood, transitioning to his rap career, and introducing other topics such as his Dreamville label. I also introduce information concerning his body of work (songs and albums) and data on his top-performing projects. The overall design is intended to visually communicate the information while engaging with the viewer regardless of whether one is a longtime fan of Cole, like myself.
target audience
The target audience includes a more mature population of 18 years or older. It also consists of those who are fans of J. Cole's work or the work of similar artists, those who appreciate music (especially the rap genre), or people who are interested in learning about current artists of our generation.

Design Concept
Because rap has always been closely linked to street culture, I used this connection to inspire my design. I included street elements such as graffiti and a grunge "aesthetic." Rap has been identified as part of the counterculture since the underground rap scene of the 1990s. And although it's widely accepted in today's generation, it's still not as popular as other genres of music. This informed my design decisions; I aimed at an anti-design approach that doesn't follow conventional design.
